Melina (40 years old)

An encounter in Medellin, Colombia.


We visited Comuna 13 with Melina, a district in Medellin where gang wars and drugs dominated everyday life until a few years ago.


What makes me happy in general? Well, um, it makes me happy when I take time for my children and, for example, go to the cinema or to a park to spend the short time I have with my three children. They are 11, 13 and 15 years old.


Melina is a single mother without support from her family. She works as a tour guide and dog groomer 7 days a week to support her children.
